Claus Michael Sattler is a master bicycle and motorcycle mechanic and studied Business Administration (BWL Betriebswirtschaftslehre) at the Albertus-Magnus-University of Cologne, the University of Hamburg and the Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena.
He has worked worldwide as Head of IT, Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Managing Director IT and IT Board Member, among others, and focused on strategies for central management of heterogeneous, distributed IT landscapes.
In 1994, he founded the „German-speaking CA Unicenter User Group“ and was its Chairman until 2001. In 1995 he was elected speaker of all CA Unicenter User Groups worldwide. Unicenter was a network and system management software from CA Computer Associates for the management of any hardware (e.g. mainframe, Unix server, Windows server, PC, network components, printers etc.) and software (e.g. operating systems, network protocols, databases, applications etc.). Due to Unicenter’s at that time already exceptionally forward-looking agent-manager structure, this software was also optimally applicable for the management of non-IT systems, e.g. elevators and escalators, air conditioning systems and programmable logic controllers, fire alarm systems and entire production plants as well as Formula 1 racing cars. Unicenter was thus a forerunner of what we today call Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0, IIoT Industrial Internet of Things or Made in China 2025.
Claus Michael Sattler has thus been involved for more than 25 years with the current topic of „digital transformation“ in industry, small and medium-sized businesses, the skilled trades, commerce and logistics, and public administration. Quote: „What Charles B. Wang, Russel Artzt and the employees of CA Computer Associates began to develop with Unicenter 1.0 in 1991 was the forerunner of the practical implementation of today’s framework architecture model Industry 4.0 (RAMI 4.0)“.
Today, Claus Michael Sattler supports managing directors and board members of companies in developing digital transformation strategies, building solutions and implementing the strategies and solutions in the company. Furthermore, the author of numerous articles in specialist magazines and books is a sought-after keynote speaker and university lecturer on the topics of „Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0, RAMI 4.0, IIoT Industrial Internet of Things and Made in China 2025“. He lectures at the International Graduate Center (IGC) of the Hochschule Bremen (HSB) | Bremen City University of Applied Sciences within the International Graduate Center (IGC) study program of the „European/Asian Management“ program.
Sattler more than anyone else coined the term „Digital transformation is simply thinking data differently!“
Following projects in the pharmaceutical industry, which included prediction models for the successful production of chemotherapeutics using the methods and tools of digital transformation, Claus Michael Sattler is currently working on supply forecasts and optimization models for logistics for security of supply during the establishment and subsequent regular operation of a nationwide filling station network for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Bio Natural Gas from renewable agricultural resources (BNG) and hydrogen (H2) as environmentally friendly fuels for heavy goods transport.
